After the great success of SURENA II, university of Tehran has been assigned as the implementer for the third generation of the Iranian humanoid robot project through a national program for Development of Applied Bio-inspired Robotic Systems. Center of Advanced Systems and Technologies (CAST) which is the merge of Center for Advanced Vehicles (CAV), implementer of SURENA I and II projects, and Advanced Dynamic and Control Systems Laboratory (ADCSL), has been in charge of realizing SURENA III. The specifications of the third generation of Iranian national humanoid robot show great technical improvements with respect to the last generations. SURENA III with 190 cm height is one of the tallest humanoid robots have ever been realized around the globe. Despite the last generations, SURENA III is capable of intelligently performing various scenarios. The robot is able to interact with its environment through vision and speech (in Persian), and to perform consistent tasks based on the visual and audial signals.
