M. Eghtesad received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from University of Tehran in 1987 and 1989. He received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Ottawa in 1996. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Shiraz University in 1997. He has taught and done research in the areas of Control, Mechatronics and Robotics. His research activities include both theoretical and experimental studies.

Jamshid emami received his BSc in industrial design, at industrial group of fine arts faculty, Tehran University, Iran, in 1993. He received his MSc in industrial design, at Industrial Group of fine arts faculty, Tehran University, in 1997.  His research stream during his MSc focused on science, philosophy and fundamentals in bio-design, while the practice task was about a novel system in transportation industry.

Hamid D. Taghirad is currently a professor with the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Systems and Control, and the founder of the Advanced Robotics and Automated System (ARAS) at K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. He has been involved in numerous robotics industrial projects on the design and implementation of industrial robots, robotic cells, and currently on an industrial cable-driven parallel manipulator. He has also participated in joint international collaborations in the field of robotics. Dr. Taghirad was the founder and a member of the board of the Iranian Society of Mechatronics (ISM) and is currently a member of the board of the Iranian Robotics Society (IRS), editor in chief of Mechatronics Magazine, and a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Robotics: Theory and Application. He also served as an organizing committee member of many international conferences.

Hadi Moradi was born in Tehran, Iran, on March 23, 1966. He received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tehran (1988). He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in computer engineering from the University of Southern California (USC)(2004 and 2009 respectively). Now he is an assistant professor at the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Tehran. In 1997 he joined FEM Engineering as a research scientist working on sheet metal forming analysis. From 2000 till 2004 he worked at USC as a faculty in computer science department. From 2004 he spent two years at the Intelligent Systems Research Center (ISRC) in South Korea developing motion planning algorithms for service robots. In 2007 he returned back to USC and in 2008 joined the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of Tehran. He is also an adjunct research professor at ISRC in South Korea. Moradi has received a best paper award for his work in climbing robots, a championship award in RoboCup 1997 and a nomination for the best paper award in 1997 for his work on assembly planning. He has also received several service awards for his commitment to his work. His current research interest is in climbing robots, intelligent toys, autonomous flying vehicles and intelligent tutoring systems.

Majid Moghaddam received his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1988 from the Sharif University of Technology, Iran, his M.Eng. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1993 from McGill University, Canada, and his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1996 from the University of Toronto, Canada. He is Professor of mechanical engineering at Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran. His current research, which focuses on applied robotics and robust H∞control, is concerned with haptic robotics, rehabilitation robotics, inspection robotics, and rough terrain mobile robot design. He is a member of the Administrative Committee of the Mechatronics Society of Iran. He has served as co-chair for many national/international conferences in Iran.

Ali A. Moosavian received his B.S. degree in 1986 from Sharif University of Technology, his M.S. degree in 1990 from Tarbiat Modaress University (both in Tehran) and his Ph.D. degree in 1996 from McGill University (Montreal, Canada), all in Mechanical Engineering. Since 1997, he has been with the Mechanical Engineering Department at K. N. Toosi University of Technology (Tehran); currently, as a Professor. He teaches courses in areas of robotics, dynamics, automatic control, analysis and synthesis of mechanisms. His research interests include areas of: Automatic Control Systems, Dynamics and Control of Robotic Systems. He has published a number of books in these fields and more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He is one of the founders of the ARAS Research Center for Design, Manufacturing and Control of Robotic Systems, and Automatic Machineries.

A.M. Afshin Hemmatyar was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1965. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. and Phd  degrees in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology (SUT), Tehran, Iran, in 1987 and 1991 and 2007 respectively. He is currently assistant professor Department of Computer Engineering at SUT. Since 1990 he has been with the Department of Computer Engineering, SUT. His research interests are in the areas of microwave power devices, amplifiers, and linearization systems modeling and implementation.
